The Tri-City Lions were shut down by the defending champion, Stockton Astros, 1-9. The offense generated plenty of scoring opportunities, gathering 11 knocks, but could not get the big hits with runners in scoring position. The pitching staff was not able to limit the damage surrendering 6 BBs compared to 3 Ks and allowing 11 hits. The Lions welcomed new additions to the roster with Vaughn Anderson going 2-4 at the plate and Manny Moreira handling the catching duties.
